Possibly readymades?
In addition to small fish everything else in the lake will be having a go at it too

Fair point Russ. Eventually it'll break down and just form the silt.
I wouldn't be very surprised if silt was analysed and it contained a lot of 'food' particles.
Ready made baits don't break down as easily, some better than others due to the preservatives and other ingredients within them.

Good quality bait will brake down in a matter of days, try putting a bait into a pint glass with water and leave it a few days you will find that the bait will be a mush, this applies to freezer baits as for ready mades that could be another story.

I remember reading that gary baines designned his bait to rise and float away so it didn't taint the spot, something to do with egg album!! giving teh bait a harder skin so the gasses make it rise. That was when he was on fen and a massive baiting campain, Proper cleaver even taking them fine details into account

I've heard about increasing the amount of egg albumin to give baits harder skins, therefore protecting them from crayfish, poisson chat, bream and other nuisance species, but never to make them rise. Interesting concept.
Just look at how bait has evolved over the years. From reading various websites that were written as journals in the '80s and published in the .com boom it's amazing to see what has developed. Back then they used boiled potatoes and other weird and wonderful arrays of household food items.

Don't you want cooler temperatures to increase the levels of dissolved oxygen in the water anyway? Hence why most lakes, if not all stock fish either before or after winter?

hey chaps i have just seen the ultimate in stainless, at the mo he only has 2 rod set ups available.they have on the middle as you look down on the buzz bar a circle shaped spirt level with the background colours being red, blue, white and yellow.there is no need for hockey sticks either just screw the bobbin chains straight in the underside to where your alarm screws in.he is also doing a protertype buzz bar where you dont have to screw your butt rests in as these come with mini versions of the buzzer bug type butt rest which come in red, white, blue and yellow.they are sexy as f£%k.these are by far the my favorite and these will be ready soon these can be made to order custom styly,so for instance im having a red butt rest for my single stick and then the fixed version im having white and blue to match my alarms.Im fishing this weekend and ive got a load of different versions so im gonna photo them and put the pics up but belive me you will want these i'd put a wager on it if anyone is desperate to see them i can send a pic from my mob but like i said there will be pics on sunday night.he is going to be producing more stuff soon soif your intrested let me no cheers
